The package
Two different operations
Upper eyelid surgery removes heavy, hooded skin. It takes about an hour, is often done under local anaesthetic while you are awake, and you go home the same day.
Lower eyelid surgery treats bags and loose skin under the eyes. It is a more delicate operation, taking one and a half to two hours under general anaesthetic, and some people stay one night.
Your package price usually includes
- Your surgeon’s fee: Mr Kumar performs your surgery personally
- The consultant anaesthetist’s fee, where an anaesthetic is needed
- Hospital and theatre fees, at a CQC-registered hospital
- A set number of follow-up appointments
- Aftercare and support, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Everything in writing, with no pressure to proceed

What affects the price
Every treatment is planned around you, so the guide price is a starting point. These are the main things that shape your final quote.
Upper, lower or both
Many people need only one. If you have upper and lower eyelid surgery together, your quote covers the combined operation.
Your anaesthetic
Upper eyelid surgery can be done with the eyelids numbed while you are awake, or under general anaesthetic if you prefer. Lower eyelid surgery is usually done under general anaesthetic. Your quote reflects the plan agreed with you.
Lower eyelid technique
Bags can be treated by removing fat and tightening skin, by repositioning fat into the groove beneath, or from inside the eyelid with no skin scar. Mr Kumar recommends the approach that suits your eyes.
Adding other procedures
Eyelid surgery is often combined with a facelift, anti-wrinkle injections or CO₂ laser resurfacing.
Paying for treatment
Insurance and finance
Eyelid surgery for appearance is cosmetic, so insurers do not usually cover it. But if heavy upper eyelid skin significantly blocks your vision, it may be considered a medical procedure. This usually needs a formal assessment of your field of vision. Your insurer will need Mr Kumar’s full name, Mr Siva Kumar Veeramani, and his GMC number, 6114710.
KIMS Hospital and The McIndoe Centre offer finance packages to help spread the cost. Details are on their own websites. These are third-party finance companies, not affiliated with Mr Kumar.
Other things to plan for
- Time off work: about seven days after upper eyelid surgery, and 10 to 14 days after lower
- Driving: usually about seven days after upper eyelid surgery
- Someone to take you home on the day
- Cold compresses for the first few days
Comparing quotes
Why prices vary
Prices vary because surgeons include different things. When you compare quotes, check whether each one includes the surgeon’s and anaesthetist’s fees, hospital and theatre fees, any overnight stay and your follow-up appointments.
Surgery abroad can look cheaper, but you are far from your surgeon if you need help while you recover. With Mr Kumar you are cared for in CQC-registered facilities close to home, with support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
