Intense pulsed light
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) in Kent, Surrey, Sussex and London
Clearer, more even skin tone
IPL treatment to reduce facial redness, thread veins and sun-related pigmentation, with little or no downtime.

At a glance
What is IPL?
Light that targets redness and pigment
IPL uses pulses of broad-spectrum light, filtered to target redness in small blood vessels and brown pigment in the skin. The light is absorbed and turned into heat, which breaks down the unwanted colour.
Over the following days, small pigmented spots darken and then flake away, and redness gradually fades. A course of treatments gives the best results.
IPL is not suitable for everyone, particularly people with darker or recently tanned skin. Your skin is assessed first, and a patch test is usually carried out before your first treatment.
IPL can help with
- Facial redness and flushing, including rosacea
- Thread veins
- Sun spots and age spots
- Uneven, sun-damaged skin tone
What it won’t do
- Remove deep wrinkles
- Reliably treat melasma
- Work well on recently tanned skin

Consultation
A face-to-face assessment with Mr Kumar, who explains the options, costs and any risks.
Prescription treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections are only given after a proper medical assessment. You never have to decide on the day.
Treatment
After cleansing, a cool gel is applied and the IPL handpiece is passed over the skin. Each pulse feels like a warm flick, like an elastic band. Protective glasses are worn throughout.
You will know exactly what to expect, and receive aftercare advice and a number to call afterwards.
Review
A review appointment, usually after about two weeks, checks your result.
Any small adjustments can be made at this stage.
Maintenance
Advice on how long your result will last and when, if ever, to repeat treatment.
There is never any pressure to book further treatment.

FAQs
Your questions, answered
Does IPL hurt?
It feels like a quick, warm snap on the skin. Most people find it very tolerable.
How many sessions will I need?
Usually three to five, about four weeks apart, depending on what is being treated.
Is IPL the same as laser?
No. A laser uses a single wavelength of light, while IPL uses a broad spectrum. IPL works well for redness and sun spots.
Can I have IPL if I have darker skin?
IPL carries a higher risk of pigment changes in darker skin, so it may not be suitable. Other treatments may be recommended instead.
How much does ipl cost?
The guide price starts from £100. Your final fee depends on your treatment plan and choice of hospital, and is confirmed in a written quote after consultation. Self-pay consultations cost £250.
Is it covered by insurance?
Cosmetic treatment is not usually covered by health insurance. Where there is a medical reason, it may be. Insurers will need Mr Kumar’s full name, Siva Kumar Veeramani, and GMC number 6114710.
