The package
What you are paying for
An arm lift (brachioplasty) removes loose, hanging skin and fat from the upper arms, often after major weight loss or with age. The scar usually runs along the inner arm, where it is least visible.
Surgery takes around two hours under general anaesthetic. The guide price covers your surgery and aftercare as one package.
Your package price usually includes
- Your surgeon’s fee: Mr Kumar performs your surgery personally
- The consultant anaesthetist’s fee, where an anaesthetic is needed
- Hospital and theatre fees, at a CQC-registered hospital
- A set number of follow-up appointments
- Aftercare and support, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Everything in writing, with no pressure to proceed

What affects the price
Every treatment is planned around you, so the guide price is a starting point. These are the main things that shape your final quote.
How much loose skin there is
A small amount of loose skin near the armpit may need only a short scar. More loose skin needs a longer scar along the inner arm.
Liposuction at the same time
Liposuction can refine the shape of the arm alongside the skin removal.
Combining with other surgery
After major weight loss, an arm lift is often planned alongside a thigh lift or tummy tuck, in one or more stages.
Your choice of hospital
Hospital fees differ, so the price depends on which partner hospital you choose.
Paying for treatment
Insurance and finance
An arm lift is cosmetic, so health insurers do not usually cover it.
KIMS Hospital and The McIndoe Centre offer finance packages to help spread the cost. Details are on their own websites. These are third-party finance companies, not affiliated with Mr Kumar.
Other things to plan for
- Time off work: about two weeks for desk work
- Compression sleeves, worn for around six weeks
- No heavy lifting or strenuous arm exercise for about six weeks
- Someone to take you home on the day
Comparing quotes
Why prices vary
Prices vary because surgeons include different things. When you compare quotes, check whether each one includes the surgeon’s and anaesthetist’s fees, hospital and theatre fees, any overnight stay and your follow-up appointments.
Liposuction alone can look cheaper, but it will not remove loose skin. If your skin hangs, an arm lift is usually the only way to tighten it.
Surgery abroad can look cheaper, but you are far from your surgeon if you need help while you recover. With Mr Kumar you are cared for in CQC-registered facilities close to home, with support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
