Tuberous Breast Correction in Kent, Surrey, Sussex and London
A natural shape, tailored to you
Tuberous breast correction with Mr Siva Kumar releases the tight base of the breast, reshapes a puffy or wide areola and adds volume with implants or your own fat, for a fuller, more natural shape.

At a glance
What are tuberous breasts?
A common condition, often overlooked
Tuberous, or tubular, breasts develop differently during puberty. A tight band of tissue at the base of the breast stops it growing outwards normally, so the breast grows forward instead, giving a narrow, tube-like or conical shape.
Typical features include a narrow base, a high, tight crease beneath the breast, little fullness in the lower half, a large or puffy areola where breast tissue pushes forward into it, and a wide gap between the breasts. One breast is often more affected than the other.
Tuberous breasts are harmless and not linked to any health risk, but they can affect confidence, bra fitting and how you feel in a swimsuit. They do not change on their own.
Correction is tailored to your breasts. Mr Kumar releases the tight base, lowers the crease where needed, reduces and reshapes the areola, and restores volume with an implant, your own fat or both, aiming for a natural, balanced shape.
Tuberous breast correction can help with
- A narrow, tube-like or conical breast shape
- A high, tight crease beneath the breast
- Large, puffy or protruding areolas
- Uneven or very different-sized breasts
- A wide gap between the breasts
What it won’t do
- Guarantee perfectly symmetrical breasts
- Improve breastfeeding, which can be harder with tuberous breasts
Options
Matched to your breast shape
Correction with implants
The tight base is released and the crease lowered, the areola reduced, and an implant placed to add volume and shape. Usually one operation.
- Best for: moderate to severe tuberous breasts with low volume
- Breast augmentation
Correction with fat transfer
Your own fat, taken by liposuction, adds volume and softens the lower half of the breast. It often needs more than one session, but avoids an implant.
- Best for: milder tuberous breasts, or people who prefer not to have implants
- Fat transfer
Areola reduction and reshaping
A puffy or wide areola is reduced through a scar around its edge, and the tissue pushing into it is reshaped.
- Best for: puffy or large areolas, often combined with other steps
- Nipple surgery
Two-stage correction
For severe constriction, a tissue expander may first stretch the tight skin, before it is replaced with an implant a few months later.
- Best for: severe tuberous breasts with very tight skin

Healing, step by step
Everyone heals at their own pace. This is a typical recovery, and Mr Kumar will give you a personal plan.
Tightness and discomfort across the chest, controlled with painkillers. Wear your support bra day and night.
Most people return to desk work after 7 to 10 days. Avoid lifting and stretching your arms above your head.
Wound check. Driving once you can wear a seatbelt and make an emergency stop comfortably.
Gradual return to exercise. Keep sleeping on your back and wearing your bra day and night for 6 weeks.
The breasts soften and settle, and the scars mature and fade.

FAQs
Your questions, answered
What are tuberous breasts?
A condition where the base of the breast is tight and narrow, so the breast grows forward into a tube-like or conical shape, often with a puffy or large areola and a high crease beneath it. It develops during puberty and is also called tubular breasts.
How do I know if I have tuberous breasts?
Common signs are a narrow breast base, little fullness in the lower half, a high crease, puffy or wide areolas, a wide gap between the breasts, and breasts of different shapes or sizes. Mr Kumar can confirm it and explain how mild or severe it is.
Can tuberous breasts be corrected without implants?
Sometimes. Milder cases can be corrected by releasing the tight base and adding your own fat. Where there is very little breast tissue, an implant usually gives a better, more reliable shape.
Is tuberous breast correction available on the NHS?
Only in limited circumstances, which vary by area, so most people have it privately. Your GP can tell you about the policy where you live.
Can I breastfeed with tuberous breasts?
Many women can, but tuberous breasts sometimes have less milk-producing tissue, so breastfeeding can be harder. Surgery is planned to protect it as far as possible, but cannot improve milk supply.
Will both breasts need surgery?
Often, but not always. One breast is frequently more affected, so each side is planned separately, sometimes with different implant sizes, to improve the balance.
Tuberous breast correction: what is the guide price?
The guide price starts from £7,500. Your final fee depends on your treatment plan and choice of hospital, and is confirmed in a written quote after consultation. Self-pay consultations cost £250.
Is it covered by insurance?
Cosmetic treatment is not usually covered by health insurance. Where there is a medical reason, it may be. Insurers will need Mr Kumar’s full name, Siva Kumar Veeramani, and GMC number 6114710.
