Profhilo Skin Booster in Kent, Surrey, Sussex and London
Focused on skin quality
Profhilo with Mr Siva Kumar is a hyaluronic acid injectable skin booster that spreads beneath the skin, designed to improve hydration and skin quality without adding volume or changing your features.

At a glance
What is Profhilo?
A skin booster, not a filler
Profhilo is an injectable gel made by IBSA from a high concentration of hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance found naturally in the skin. It is a medical device rather than a medicine.
Unlike a dermal filler, which is placed to add volume and shape, Profhilo is injected in small amounts just beneath the skin and spreads out over the following day or so. The aim is to improve skin hydration, texture and firmness, rather than to change your features.
On the face it is usually given using a 5-point technique: five small injections on each side, at points chosen to avoid the main blood vessels and nerves. It can also be used on the neck, the décolletage and the backs of the hands.
A course is usually two sessions, four weeks apart, followed by a maintenance session about every six months. Results vary from person to person, and Mr Kumar will tell you honestly whether Profhilo is likely to help, or whether another treatment would suit you better.
Profhilo may help with
- Dull, dehydrated-looking skin
- Fine, crepey lines on the face and neck
- Early loss of firmness in the lower face and neck
- Crepey skin on the décolletage and the backs of the hands
What it won’t do
- Add volume or reshape the cheeks, lips or jawline (dermal fillers may suit)
- Lift heavy, sagging skin (surgery may be better)
- Stop the skin ageing, or last permanently
Options
Matched to your skin
Profhilo for the face
Ten small injections, five on each side, using the 5-point technique. A course is usually two sessions, four weeks apart.
- Best for: dull or dehydrated skin and early laxity on the face
Neck, décolletage and hands
Profhilo can be placed in the neck, the chest above the bust or the backs of the hands, using a small number of injection points.
- Best for: crepey skin away from the face
Dermal fillers
Where volume has been lost, a hyaluronic acid filler placed in a specific area restores support and shape, which Profhilo does not do.
- Best for: lost volume in the cheeks or temples, or deeper lines
- Dermal fillers
Polynucleotides
Profhilo is not usually injected directly under the eyes. For thin, crepey skin there, polynucleotides are another injectable option that Mr Kumar can discuss with you.
- Best for: thin, crepey skin under the eyes

Consultation
A face-to-face assessment with Mr Kumar, who explains the options, costs and any risks.
Prescription treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections are only given after a proper medical assessment. You never have to decide on the day.
Treatment
Your skin is cleaned and the injection points are marked. Profhilo is injected with a fine needle at five points on each side of the face, which takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Most people find it only mildly uncomfortable, and numbing cream can be used if you prefer.
You will know exactly what to expect, and receive aftercare advice and a number to call afterwards.
Review
A review appointment, usually after about two weeks, checks your result.
Any small adjustments can be made at this stage.
Maintenance
Advice on how long your result will last and when, if ever, to repeat treatment.
There is never any pressure to book further treatment.
Recovery
Healing, step by step
Everyone heals at their own pace. This is a typical recovery, and Mr Kumar will give you a personal plan.
Small raised bumps at each injection point, sometimes with redness. Most people go straight back to work or their day.
The bumps flatten as the gel spreads. Avoid make-up for about 12 hours, and strenuous exercise, saunas and alcohol for 24 hours.
Any bruising or tenderness fades. Avoid facial massage and other facial treatments in the area.
Your second session.
A maintenance session, if you would like to keep the effect.

FAQs
Your questions, answered
What does Profhilo do to your face?
Profhilo spreads beneath the skin and is designed to improve hydration, texture and firmness. It does not add volume or change the shape of your face, so any change is subtle and builds gradually.
Is Profhilo better than fillers?
They do different jobs. Dermal fillers restore volume and shape in a specific area, while Profhilo aims to improve the quality of the skin across a wider area. Some people benefit from one, some from both, and some from neither.
How many sessions will I need?
Usually two sessions, four weeks apart, then a maintenance session about every six months if you want to keep the effect. Older or more sun-damaged skin sometimes benefits from a third session.
Is there a downside to Profhilo?
You will have small bumps at the injection points for a day or so, and sometimes bruising. Results vary between people, they are subtle, and they are not permanent, so maintenance is needed.
What is the best age for Profhilo?
There is no single best age. It is most often considered when the skin starts to look drier, duller or slightly less firm, often from the thirties onwards. It is not offered to anyone under 18.
Can Profhilo be used under the eyes?
It is not usually injected directly under the eyes. For thin, crepey skin there, polynucleotides are another option, and hollows under the eyes are sometimes treated with a carefully placed filler. Mr Kumar will advise what suits you.
How much does Profhilo cost?
The guide price starts from £350. Your final fee depends on your treatment plan and choice of hospital, and is confirmed in a written quote after consultation. Self-pay consultations cost £250.
Is it covered by insurance?
Cosmetic treatment is not usually covered by health insurance. Where there is a medical reason, it may be. Insurers will need Mr Kumar’s full name, Siva Kumar Veeramani, and GMC number 6114710.
