Combined surgical and skin treatment
Combined Surgery and Skin Treatment in Kent, Surrey, Sussex and London
One surgeon. Structure and skin, planned together.
Surgery fixes structure: loose skin, fat and muscle. Skin treatments such as CO₂ laser, IPL and radiofrequency microneedling improve skin quality. Mr Siva Kumar plans both from your first consultation, so the result looks complete rather than half-finished.

Why combine
Surgery and skin, brought together
Surgeons usually offer surgery, and skin clinics offer skin treatments. Mr Kumar brings them together. A facelift lifts the jowls but does not change fine lines around the mouth. Eyelid surgery removes hooding but does not smooth crepey skin. Planning both from the start lets each treatment do the job it does best.
Mr Kumar is one of the few surgeons in the UK who combine eyelid and facial surgery with CO₂ laser resurfacing and carry out both himself. IPL and radiofrequency microneedling are carried out by Mr Kumar or by a specialist nurse working with him, as part of the plan he sets.
Some treatments are done during the same operation, such as CO₂ laser to the eyelids or around the mouth at the time of eyelid surgery or a facelift. Others work better weeks or months later, once healing has settled. Every plan is individual and depends on your skin, your recovery and what fits around your life.
In the NHS, Mr Kumar is a reconstructive and skin cancer surgeon. He brings the same precision to cosmetic work: careful planning of incisions and scars, gentle handling of tissue, and an honest view of what each treatment can and cannot achieve.
Planning surgery and skin together can help with
- Hooded eyelids with crepey skin and fine lines around the eyes
- Jowls and a loose neck with lines around the mouth and sun damage
- Loose tummy skin with stretch marks
- Scars that are raised, red or uneven after surgery
- Scars on the face after skin cancer surgery
- Uneven tone, redness and sun damage alongside facial surgery
Who it isn’t for
- People who smoke or vape and are not ready to stop, as both healing and laser recovery suffer
- Anyone hoping a skin treatment will replace surgery when the skin is very loose
- Darker skin types where laser carries a higher risk of colour change, unless assessed and treated cautiously
- Anyone who has recently taken isotretinoin (Roaccutane), or who is pregnant
- People who would do just as well with one treatment alone: Mr Kumar will say so
Five example plans
How surgery and skin fit together
These are examples, not packages. Timings are a guide: some treatments are done at the same operation, others weeks or months later, depending on healing and logistics.
Eyelid surgery with CO₂ laser
Upper eyelid surgery removes the hooding. Fractional CO₂ laser to the lower lids and crow’s feet tightens and smooths crepey skin. Often done at the same operation, or the laser a few months later.
- Best for: hooded upper lids with crepey skin around the eyes
- Upper eyelid surgery · CO₂ laser
Facelift or neck lift with CO₂ laser
Surgery lifts the jowls and neck. CO₂ laser around the mouth and on the cheeks treats fine lines and sun damage that a lift cannot reach. Often done under the same anaesthetic, or as a later stage.
Tummy tuck with stretch mark treatment
A tummy tuck removes loose skin and many of the stretch marks below the belly button. Those higher up can be improved with radiofrequency microneedling or CO₂ laser, usually from a few months after surgery.
- Best for: loose tummy skin with stretch marks
- Tummy tuck · Stretch marks
Scar correction with laser or IPL
Surgery improves the shape and position of a scar. CO₂ laser and IPL then work on texture and redness, usually from about six to eight weeks after surgery.
- Best for: scars that are wide, raised, red or uneven
- Scar correction · IPL
Skin cancer surgery with scar refinement
Removing the cancer completely comes first, with a repair planned to look natural. Once healed, CO₂ laser or IPL can help the scar blend in, usually a few months later.
- Best for: scars on the face after skin cancer surgery
- Facial reconstruction · Skin cancer surgery

Patient guide

A detailed booklet written by Mr Kumar. It explains the procedure in depth, how to prepare, every risk and complication, and how to look after yourself afterwards.
The online version of this guide is on its way. You will receive a printed copy at your consultation.
Your journey
Your step-by-step journey
Your journey starts the moment you get in touch. From your first enquiry to your final check-up, you deal with the same small team, and you will always feel listened to, informed and never rushed.
Get in touch
Call, email or send an enquiry. Our team replies promptly and personally, and finds a time and clinic that suit you.
There is no pressure and no sales script. Tell us a little about what prompted you to get in touch, and we will make sure your consultation is with the right person for you.
Consultation
An unhurried, face-to-face appointment with Mr Kumar himself, who will be your surgeon from start to finish.
He listens to what you would like to change, examines you, explains every option, including non-surgical ones and doing nothing, and gives you an honest view of the likely result.
Time to decide
You receive a written plan, a clear quote and your patient guide, then take as long as you need.
A second consultation is included before surgery, and there is a cooling-off period of at least two weeks. Bring someone with you, ask anything, and change your mind at any point.
Day of treatment
Your plan starts at the consultation, where Mr Kumar examines your skin as well as the structure underneath and explains which treatments, in which order. When laser is done at the same operation as surgery, it is carried out under the same anaesthetic, so there is one recovery rather than two. When treatments are staged, you have a clear timeline from the start.
He will see you beforehand to go through the plan and answer last-minute questions, and you will have clear instructions and a number to call once you go home.
Aftercare and follow-up
Reviews at each stage of your recovery, with support 24 hours a day whenever you need it.
Follow-up appointments are included in your package price, and continue until you have healed and are happy with how things have settled.
Recovery
Healing, step by step
Everyone heals at their own pace. This is a typical recovery, and Mr Kumar will give you a personal plan.
The usual swelling and bruising from the operation, plus around a week of redness and peeling where the laser was used.
Skin treatments usually start once wounds have healed and swelling has settled, often from six weeks to a few months after surgery.
Skin quality keeps improving as collagen builds.
Daily sun protection and a simple skincare routine help the result last.

Safety
Risks and staying safe
All surgery carries some risk. Mr Kumar will go through these with you in detail, and the patient guide covers them in full, so you can make an informed decision.
Possible risks
- The risks of each treatment still apply, including bleeding, infection and scarring after surgery
- Longer redness or swelling when treatments are combined
- Changes in skin colour after laser, more likely in darker skin
- Cold sore flare-ups after laser around the mouth
- Needing a further skin treatment session
Lowering your risk
- Treatments are only combined when it is safe for you and your skin
- Tell Mr Kumar if you get cold sores, as antiviral tablets are given before laser
- Tell Mr Kumar if you have taken isotretinoin (Roaccutane) in the past year
- Stop smoking and vaping at least six weeks before and after surgery
- Avoid tanning before and after treatment, and use high-factor sun protection
- Tell us about all medicines and supplements, especially blood thinners

FAQs
Your questions, answered
Can laser be done at the same time as surgery?
Sometimes, yes. CO₂ laser to the eyelids or around the mouth is often done during eyelid surgery or a facelift, under the same anaesthetic. Other combinations work better staged. It depends on your skin, the areas treated and what fits your life.
Who carries out the treatments?
Mr Kumar performs the surgery and the CO₂ laser himself. IPL and radiofrequency microneedling are carried out by Mr Kumar or by a specialist nurse working with him, as part of the plan he sets.
Is it safe to combine treatments?
Combining is only recommended when it is safe for you. Each treatment still carries its own risks, and Mr Kumar will explain them. Doing laser at the same operation can mean one recovery rather than two.
Does combining cost more?
Each treatment is priced separately, and you receive a written quote for the whole plan before you decide. Combining treatments at the same operation can save a separate visit.
Will I need more than one skin treatment session?
One CO₂ laser session is often enough for the face and eyelids. IPL and radiofrequency microneedling usually work best as a short course.
Can I have the skin treatment on its own?
Yes. If a skin treatment alone will give you what you want, Mr Kumar will tell you. See CO₂ laser resurfacing.
Why see a surgeon for skin treatments?
A surgeon understands the structure under the skin, so can tell you honestly whether a skin treatment, surgery or both will give the result you want. Government proposals published in October 2026 would also limit higher-risk laser treatments to qualified healthcare professionals.
Is it covered by insurance?
Cosmetic treatment is not usually covered by health insurance. Where there is a medical reason, it may be. Insurers will need Mr Kumar’s full name, Siva Kumar Veeramani, and GMC number 6114710.
