The package

What you are paying for

The guide price covers your operation, standard implants and your care as one package. Your written quote sets out the implants Mr Kumar recommends for you, and confirms the price if a different type suits you better.

Careful planning is part of what you pay for. At least two consultations are always arranged before surgery, and 3D imaging software can help you see the likely result before you decide.

Your package price usually includes

  • Your surgeon’s fee: Mr Kumar performs your surgery personally
  • The consultant anaesthetist’s fee, where an anaesthetic is needed
  • Hospital and theatre fees, at a CQC-registered hospital
  • A set number of follow-up appointments
  • Aftercare and support, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Everything in writing, with no pressure to proceed

Your quote

What affects the price

Every treatment is planned around you, so the guide price is a starting point. These are the main things that shape your final quote.

Your implants

Implant size, profile, shape (round or teardrop) and surface are chosen for you, and standard implants are included in the guide price. They are chosen to suit the width of your chest and your skin, rather than a cup size.

Whether you also need a lift

If your breasts are low or droopy, implants alone may not give the result you want. A breast uplift on its own starts from £7,000, and a breast uplift with standard implants from £7,495.

Fat transfer instead of implants

For some people who prefer not to have implants, fat transfer to the breasts is an option, from £7,000.

Your choice of hospital

Hospital fees differ, so the price depends on which partner hospital you choose for your surgery.

Paying for treatment

Insurance and finance

Breast augmentation is a cosmetic operation, so health insurers do not usually cover it.

KIMS Hospital and The McIndoe Centre offer finance packages to help spread the cost. Details are on their own websites. These are third-party finance companies, not affiliated with Mr Kumar.

Other things to plan for

  • Time off work: most people return to desk work after about seven days
  • No driving for about two weeks
  • Supportive bras, worn day and night at first
  • Future replacement: implants are not lifetime devices, so you may need further surgery at some point

Comparing quotes

Why prices vary

Prices vary because surgeons include different things. When you compare quotes, check whether each one includes the surgeon’s and anaesthetist’s fees, hospital and theatre fees, any overnight stay and your follow-up appointments.

Also check whether each quote includes the implants themselves, as mine do, and whether they will be recorded on the national Breast and Cosmetic Implant Registry. With Mr Kumar, they always are.

Surgery abroad can look cheaper, but you are far from your surgeon if you need help while you recover. With Mr Kumar you are cared for in CQC-registered facilities close to home, with support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
