The package
What you are paying for
Rhinoplasty reshapes the nose to change its size, shape or profile, and can be combined with surgery to improve breathing. Some changes are small, such as smoothing a bump. Others reshape the tip or straighten the nose.
Surgery takes two to three hours under general anaesthetic. The guide price covers your surgery and aftercare as one package.
Your package price usually includes
- Your surgeon’s fee: Mr Kumar performs your surgery personally
- The consultant anaesthetist’s fee, where an anaesthetic is needed
- Hospital and theatre fees, at a CQC-registered hospital
- A set number of follow-up appointments
- Aftercare and support, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Everything in writing, with no pressure to proceed
Your quote
What affects the price
Every treatment is planned around you, so the guide price is a starting point. These are the main things that shape your final quote.
What needs to change
Smoothing a bump is simpler than reshaping the tip or straightening the nose, and the plan agreed with Mr Kumar shapes your quote.
Breathing surgery at the same time
Straightening the wall inside the nose (septoplasty) can be done at the same operation and adds to the time.
Revision rhinoplasty
Correcting a previous rhinoplasty is more complex and usually costs more.
Your choice of hospital
Hospital fees differ, so the price depends on which partner hospital you choose.
Paying for treatment
Insurance and finance
Rhinoplasty to change the appearance of the nose is cosmetic and not usually covered by health insurance. Surgery to correct a breathing problem or an injury may be covered in part, subject to your policy.
KIMS Hospital and The McIndoe Centre offer finance packages to help spread the cost. Details are on their own websites. These are third-party finance companies, not affiliated with Mr Kumar.
Other things to plan for
- A splint on the nose for about a week
- Bruising and swelling around the eyes for one to two weeks
- Avoiding contact sports for several weeks
- Patience: the final shape takes up to a year to settle
Comparing quotes
Why prices vary
Prices vary because surgeons include different things. When you compare quotes, check whether each one includes the surgeon’s and anaesthetist’s fees, hospital and theatre fees, any overnight stay and your follow-up appointments.
Check whether each quote includes the anaesthetist, any overnight stay and the splint, and whether your follow-up appointments are with the surgeon who operated.
Surgery abroad can look cheaper, but you are far from your surgeon if you need help while you recover. With Mr Kumar you are cared for in CQC-registered facilities close to home, with support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
